Before there was a launch, a headline, or a trend, there was a shared conviction: that banking should not be a chore. It should be intuitive and innovative.  

When WEMA Bank envisioned the next leap for ALAT, Africa’s pioneering digital banking solution, they saw a future beyond the screen. WEMA brought this vision to INFINION with a challenge: to make AI and voice-banking a reality. 

We Bridged the Gap Between Ambition and Reality

The initial vision for ALAT centered on being “AI-augmented.” INFINION eliminated ambiguity by helping to modify the platform around its eight strategic pillars, ranging from Wealth and Lifestyle to Payments and Credit.

We helped boost the user experience by replacing a static dashboard with a proactive “Activity Center,” empowering the platform to recognize user patterns. Rather than waiting for a customer to remember a recurring task, like a utility bill, the system predicts the due date and prepares the transaction in advance, ensuring uninterrupted service and seamless financial management.

The 60-Second Handshake

In Nigeria, “instant” often comes with an asterisk. We decided to delete the asterisk. INFINION optimized the onboarding flow to hit a 60-second target. We integrated secure, Face-First liveness checks and digital address verification that interacts directly with BVN and NIN databases. We replaced tedious forms with active guidance. All users need is “Good lighting. Face the camera. Keep still for 3 seconds.”

Giving the Bank a Voice

Voice banking is often a gimmick. INFINION turned it into a tool for accessibility. All users need to do is talk. “Hey, SAW! Please, send ₦5,000 to Tunde for lunch,” or “What’s my balance?” Its NLP (Natural Language Processing) engine parses the request, confirms the details, and secures the transaction with Face ID.

Conclusion: Safety as a Feature

INFINION closed the gap by integrating transparency into its UI. We added “Why this?” labels to AI recommendations and implemented stringent anti-fraud strategies, ensuring that biometrics are encrypted and raw images are deleted after verification.

INFINION tightened the narrative, quantified the benefits, and built the evidence. We’ve helped ALAT by WEMA launch a deck and a standard.
